If its a wiring issues, I wouldnít expect it to be consistent, unless:

1. Battery Voltage is dropping under 10V at 2300RPM
2. You have swapped Crank + and Crank -

I cannot recommend the AEM, I was a dealer of theirs for over 10 years but have gone away from that after numerous issues. Their harness options won't help you muh with a 318ti and they struggle...
