I did not have your same issue. Mine was a clear case of a broken plastic bit (and/or a spring that came out) inside the trunk lock.

Yes, I can speak from experience that the Mighty Lift C95769 (blazer supports) should definitely support that weight. I have a rear wiper but not a spoiler. The hatch is difficult to close now!
