It will ONLY fit if you remove the door panel. The front seat needs to be let all the way down or removed. I let mine all the way down and removed the rear bench

There's a lot more involved than that, just get an m44 head or finds the correct engine. Intake, exhaust, coolant hoses, fan, dme, hfm, o2, cam/crank sensors, none are capatible. I've done the swap

Also, I doubt the paint has anything to do with it. I've used aftermarket crank sensors on my my daily m50ti without any issues.
