I'll echo what these guys are saying, Bosch is an OEM supplier and you generally don't go wrong with their parts. Often times the Genuine BMW sensor is just a Bosch with the BMW logo somewhere.

It could be a Camshaft Position Sensor. These tell the ECU when to fire the injectors and spark plugs in relation to where the intake camshaft is in the four cycles of engine operation. A bad one...
