To answer my own question if anyone needs this...

To answer my own question if anyone needs this info in the future, the fuel tank in the 318ti is specific to this body style. A tank from a coupe/sedan/vert will not fit.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I pulled the fuel pump out and realized whoever put the fuel pump in didn't put the seal on right. It was halfway on the pump and halfway hanging down in the tank.
