Default HELP -looking at 1998 318ti Sport Midwest car

First time buyer of one of these jewels.
Long time admirer, first time buyer. (radio jive)
Need advise. Have noted on the forums to look at headliners, what else in the interior? Don't mean to bug you with the common stuff (duh) but particulars to the E36ti. Same with under the hood.
I'm concerned with rust when buying any car, especially when it's spent it's life east of the Sierras'. Where are the vulnerble spots on the E36's? I'm flying 2.5 hrs. to see this car, and will drive it 1200 miles home if it's right...and i hope it is.
Also, what is the most common way to lower this car? What manufactuers make suspension mods for it? It HAS been dropped...looks level...sano. Maybe scary, since the salesman wasn't aware that it had been dropped. Whadda they know, anyway? I guess I'll just see if it tracts / brakes stright...listen for noises? My flight out is this Friday AM...need advise.

Please feel free to attend to anything I should zone in on.

THANK YOU
