If you are just using the basic Z3 shifter, then you don't have to bend anything at all. The shifter will be perfectly centered, and the selector rod will clear the drive shaft.
You'll reduce the shifter travel by 30% which is nice, but not dramatic.
Now, if you go with the MZ3 shifter, then you have to bend the selector rod and the shifter. Buy the selector from
www.understeer.com and the shifter will come bended. You'll just have to bend the selector yourself. Not too difficult (see Ron Stygar's web page on how to do this). This will yield 40% reduction in shifter travel.
