One thing to consider is that the wiring for the coolant sensor is in the same general area that you were working when changing the headlight. My cooling fan also comes on at high speed whenever the key is turned on. The switch wiring was rigged and a ground wire was spliced into the the coolant sensor harness and grounded to the car body (previous owner). My advice is to look around and see if any wires have been broken or diconnected.
