Tuff to say. The 'buttdynomometer' did not notice any blatant change in sound or acceleration. Obviously, it will only do any good 'at speed' where there is high-pressure air in that brake duct.

The protrusion into the brake duct is slightly forward, and slightly belled at the opening. So it should grab a fair bit of air...

Just another cool detail for my car...
