Every E36 I've taken apart has light surface rust in these areas- I wouldn't worry about it, nor would I be concerned about needing to put any sort of rust protection on it, unless I was bored and had time to kill. The newest ti out there is nearly 15 years old- a little bit of surface rust on an untreated metal brace is bound to happen. __________________
