That sucks buddy, like the 02 Vette race car I bought for $35k only to find the frame had been sectioned in the front, carefully hidden, not in the log books, and the cage had some serious hidden issues as well. I spent a ton of money and time fixing it, the seller only had the car a few months and really did not know so I had no recourse. I actually flew to TX to check the car out, had it on a lift, watched it race, etc..it was a lower class race car so I intended to strip it down more and that is when I found the issues. I had raced for a few years in SCCA and 3 races in NASA with an illegal cage. I ended up cutting out and building a whole new cage and put the car on a rack before that to ensure aligned then fully gusseted it, brought elements out past the sectioning, etc....when done it was far stronger than stock or a regular caged car. I have owned dozens of cars and trucks and this was the only major issue I have ever had. |
