I have the M3/328 lever, the one in the middle, but mine has a metal ball instead of the plastic one. It shortened the shift throw considerably. I did have to bend the selector lever to clear the meat ring on the drive shaft on my '97 ti. What did the guys using the MZ3 lever do to clear the ring? Bend the selector more? Get an ERK?

I also have an MZ3 lever in case I want an even shorter shift.
