Sorry, just seeing this now. I have the roof off of the car, but not off the frame.

I do have both type of motors now. A threaded and a Hex Key motor. They look identical inside and outside on one of my threaded motors as far as I can see. A second threaded motor has a different wiring pigtail that looks to have a switch connector in the harness. The original for my car had the power only leads. Both of my threaded motors work with intact gears. The allen motor has teeth missing causing a jerky opening and closing motion. (James and Michael, you were spot on...)


So, I believe I have a broken top on the car now with an intact, working motor and a 98 top off the car that is fully functional. Easy fix for now, I'll figure out how the switches differ and which one I'd prefer to use.
