And don't believe your boss when he says "oh, our insurance doesn't cover that sort of thing." Go to his superiors, assuming there is one, and ask them. The bonus here is that they might be upset with him for his poor decision and he'd get in some sort of trouble. But, you didn't report him to get him in trouble, you were simply inquiring about insurance coverage.
