I think the only major difference is the head and block. The internals should be relatively universal, M47 crank, s52 pistons and rods should work. I'm not sure if the crank sprocket is different, the crank has been turned down to accept an M42 sprocket. As for the differences: M44 blocks have knock sensors, M42's do not. M44 heads have two coolant sensors, M42's have one [you can make a T to fit two sensors] On another note, the M42 internals or forged and not cast like M44's... M42's are considered to be stronger. |
