err, dont really know how to put this but you are'nt going to get more than 190hp at the most. 225bhp is the max i'm afraid for the 1.9. what do you want to be competetive against? from there i can lead you, but it is'nt going to involve an m44. you have a really nice car from what i can see, why dont you get a 2nd car for blasting around in? not a FIAT(fu**ing insult to the automotive trade) or alfa (it's posh cousin). more like an m3, or audi 1.8t.
the thing is recently, BMW have always built their engines to the highest specification possible, hence the upgrade from the m42 1.8 to the m44 1.9. you are always going to feel pissed off at what you do to your engine, as it wont make any difference in hp. the 1.8 was replaced to a 1.9 for fuel effiencey not for performance, check the statistics. the only thing you can do is get a re-map, or go for the top end 225bhp, with forced induction. nobody on this site has gone above that yet! __________________
