Default Side moulding ideas

My drivers rear fender moulding fell off a long time ago, and the passenger door was coming lose at the front, and some dumb friend opened it too hard, breaking all the clips. I riped all of them off on both sides, washed, waxed under them so the dirty strips wouldn't stick out for the time being. I dont want the original mouldings on the car again. I am planing to eventually get the M-tech mouldings, but for a while I have much bigger priorities to spend the 150$ on... So do we have any other options?, and custom things that would work for the time. I looked at lowes hardware for a rubber inch wide strip or something? Anyone have any ideas....???

My friend filled in the strip with bondo on his m3 track car and sanded it smooth before repainting his car. It came out great, you cant tell anything is supposed to be there if you looked hard. I love the way his doors are smooth, much more simple and clean looking. But for my Ti I prefer the more traditional M-Tech look....
