Hello...
I've finally made up my mind.
I'm going the swap route.
After reading alot of threads here about engine swaps, I've decided to go with the E36 M3 3.0 Single vanos Euro engine wich has 286hp stock.
I've decided on this motor because it is OBDI and my car is OBDI and because it offers great performance and reliability in it's stock form.
At first I wanted to buy a whole M3 to do my swap, so no parts would be missing, but here in Portugal, even a recked M3 with the mechanical part in full working order can't be found for less than 5000 Euros, wich I think it is alot...
So, I'm thinking of buying an engine as complete as possible (with ECU, power steering pump, etc) with a gearbox, wich will cost me around 800 euros.
Now, since I'm going this route, and I don't have any experience in swaps, I would like to build a list of all the material I will need so that my mechanic won't have any problems fitting the new engine to my car.
I would also like to know what should I get suspension and chassis wise.
I already bought a M3 Gauge cluster, M3 front brakes (calipers, carriers, hubs, disks and pads) and M3 front struts with springs (excellent price!).
Please help me out so I can start sourcing the parts.
