It gets pretty un-ugly fast when they put the new 265hp I6 in it. Imagine it with the 300hp turbo puppy.
As for pricing, it's always easy to figure out what BMW will do. Just do the following:
1. find the price of a base 3 series
2. find the price of a base Mini
3. average the two
There you are, instant base 1 series pricing plus or minus a couple K. You can do the same with the MCS and a 335 probably to find the upper limits of what a high-end 1 series might sell for. For each segment, they have to be more expensive than the lower-end car, and less than the higher-end car and BMW is very consistant about that.
