That is not a problem at all. Just do a coil on plug conversion. There are a few guys on m42club that sell a plate that allows you to use a coil directly attached the the sparkplug, instead of using a coil-pack with plugs wires.
There is an E30 m42 DM class turbo on bimmerforums. I'm pretty sure I've posted links to his build before. They went to a COP conversion and cut the brackets for the coil pack off the car, also ditch the washer fluid bottle. There is a ton of room in a Ti engine compartment.
