282 is the mid to late MY95 DME that was used for the cars that were starting to get some of the 96 type upgrades. There are some EWS issues with this DME, but it isn't the same as the 96 DME's where the EWS codes in the tune must match the EWS control unit.

it is also the DME that seems to give people the most trouble trying to get it tuned properly.

I'm able to move stock chips in and out of my 282 DME along with properly done aftermarket chips without worrying about EWS issues. I can also swap two different 282 DMEs in my car, and have no startup issues.

Still haven't had any one confirm if the dinan and turner chips for the 282 remove EWS, but they are not advertised as doing such and those can also be installed without worrying about EWS issues. Pretty sure the key has the match the EWS unit in these cars, and the DME doesn't really matter as long as it is a 282. No experience with swapping back to an earlier DME.
