I'm on the fence on that. I still drive my car on the street, and the well gives a good place to keep my bag from sliding around on the way to work. It would also be a convenient place to relocate the battery for weight balancing. I suspect that it will have to go to make room for a diffuser if/when it comes time for aero on my car.
I would expect maybe 4-5 pounds of savings, depending on what covers the hole - aluminum or even plastic?
