Personally, I would not go with an M50. But thats just me. If Im pulling my engine out of my bay....it will be for major HP gains. And if you score on a solid donor, its great for part out. So you could possibly make a good portion of that back. I've heard an M50 will only get you around 170- 190whp with mods. My Dasc/intended motor is just fine for a DD. But then again I scored with a purch already installed. Before my 98' ti was totaled, my intentions were to swap with an s52/obdII. there is plenty of information if you search.
