Welcome to the site! As on most vehicles, the mouldings are not painted. They're just injected molded plastic, which makes them prone to oxidation and sun bleaching. From my observations, painted moldings look good until the first time someone hits it with their door or a shopping cart runs into it. Then you have to deal with scuffs and/or chipped paint. I actually have a can of the Dupont trim paint that I had planned on using, but I found a bunch of videos on youtube that show people restoring their moldings with a heat gun.
