I've heard this theory too, but I disagree. I'd rather let the fuel filter take care of it (since that's its job) rather than let it build up. Eventually, it'll be 1/2, then 3/4 of a tank.

One thing it will most definitely prevent, is the fuel reserve light burning out. Yeah, mine's gone.
