Agree, oil starvation issue. Did previous owner change the valve cover gasket? Could be an issue with the upper oil tube assembly being clogged. Would suggest you John's recommendation above, oil/filter change with seafoam added to oil to try to clean up any gunk. Then another oil/filter change. Not too expensive to do this and if it is the problem you're done. If not then next step is to take off valve cover and see if you can find where it's being starved for oil
Additionally, though it does sound like it is coming from the valve cover, double check your exhaust manifold for leaks too. I've seen exhaust leaks sound like this too and it was simply a bad exhaust gasket needing replaced. Is the sound there 100% of the time or does it come and go? |
