A e30 or z3 will fit with slight work to the body with a lump hammer only ever slight, the cups can be changed so you can still use your original drive shafts or you could get e30 325i ones or z3 2.8 ones which are slightly thicker.

Just done this to my compact used a z3 lsd can't remember the ratio of hand but still using the 1.6 drive shaft just swapped the cups over from the original diff to the new one jobs a Bobby dazzler.

But make sure you double check the torque and use loctight on the nuts that connects the propshaft to the diff, mine span of and caused a lot of vibration and being 300 miles away and not being able to go above 50mph was crap
