My guess on the "popping" sound... since mine makes a faint pop/click when I go around corners quickly (which is most of the time, LOL): The seats don't raise/lower/slide by magic, it's a mechanical device... with, believe it or not, moving parts. If you've ever examined moving parts after 8-10 years of use, you've probably noticed [gasp] wear and tear on those moving parts. Yes, it happens, I don't make the rules, I just observe them and report. :-D CLIFF NOTES: Our seats are old, so it's reasonable to expect them to creak a little.
