I don't know the nature of the failure, so if you've definitively troubleshot this thing, forgive me. Being a fairly passive device, the failure rate of the cam sensor is very low. I believe it's a hall effect sensor with an integral magnet. If it were me, and I weren't positive that the cam sensor was the culprit, I would get my hands on a used one just to confirm.
