The sensor in the driver side brake duct is the one you have to change for a correct OBC reading. The picture you linked up was it.

It's odd that your engine has issues only when the OBC reads incorrectly as I'm almost positive that sensor is only for the OBC. My OBC temp sensor wire was ripped out a few winters ago and it occasionally reads random numbers when in contact with heavy moisture. This never causes any issues with how my car runs though.

I don't know how the system is wired but perhaps there's a short somewhere that causes the OBC to read incorrectly and affects another sensor?
