On an M42/44 that is tight with no issues, I would tend to agree with you, as least as far as the stoutness of these motors. On a motor with a blown head gasket and oil that looks like poorly mixed chocolate milk, however, no... I wouldn't go there. You're getting almost no protection on bearing and friction surfaces with oil like that.

Additionally, if it's longevity you've after, it never a good idea to 'flog' any motor repeatedly/consistently.
