Hello,
Can anyone tell me what keys and how many came with specifically a 1995 from the factory? When I got my 1995 a couple years ago I only got one extremely worn black plastic master key (51218205442) with it. I have since then got from the dealer a lighted master key (51218205441) and another black plastic master key (51218205442). I got back from the BMW dealer just now after ordering a grey valet (51218205443) and a plastic wallet key (51218205444) to complete the set of what I believe to be the 4 keys the car came with from the factory. (I'm OCD like that haha.)
The parts guy said it shouldn't be an issue to get these, but the EWS can only hold 10 keys and that with the 2 I just ordered I might be getting close to the limit, and he was unsure of what combination of the 4 keys came with the car from the factory.
Here's where I believe I stand:
51218205441 Lighted Master Key (Original, Lost)
51218205442 Black Master Key (Original, I still have it)
51218205443 Grey Valet Key (Original, Lost)
51218205444 Wallet Key (Original, Lost)
51218205441 Lighted Master Key (New, I ordered it earlier this year)
51218205442 Black Master Key (New, I ordered it a couple years ago)
51218205443 Grey Valet Key (New, obtained this week)
51218205444 Wallet Key (New, obtained this week)
This would put my car's EWS up to 8 keys, assuming none of the previous owners ever ordered an extra one. I doubt it though, considering I only got one with the car. Can anyone confirm what keys came with the car from the factory? The BMW parts guy wasn't sure. Sorry if I rambled a bit.
EDIT: It occurred to me to check the owners manual. It confirmed what I suspected to be the truth. The car came from the factory with the 4 listed above keys.
EDIT 2: The final two keys arrived today and my Ti once again has a complete key set! I am very pleased. I think it's safe to assume I only have 2 key slots left. Not a big deal, as I don't plan on losing any of the keys I currently have.
