Studs are great in the pits. LOL The biggest issue is that a lug centric hub is designed differently than a hub centric hub, look at a bunch in a wrecking yard. The hub centrics tend to be beefy close to the center, lug centrics are heavier all the way out past the lugs. Hub centric hubs tend to be lighter because you need less meat to hold the bolts or studs.
(Not major but a bit, I weighed a few at one point looking for an edge on a race car. )

I'd do hub centric studs or not. Just me, I've broke the studs off twice racing and its a E-ticket ride...
