If ‘Jersey allows it, go for studded snows all around. Only a snowcat would do better.

I had an 89 dodge Daytona with studded snows all around (cheap ones from Sears) and it was like a half-track. That was front drive but absolutely get them all around. I got caught in a flurry once in my ti since 1998 and it was not fun.

The weight is a good idea so keep that with the better tires. Don’t forget jumper cables, blanket, flares, energy bars and water too. Just in case you slide off 87 in upstate...
