The cable should have about a millimeter each way of 'wobble' if you move it side to side with your fingers. It is important that the cable does not place any tension on the curved cable ramp, or the idle can be a bit weird.
(With the engine off) have someone press the pedal to the floor. You should NOT be able to move the plastic ramp any further by hand from under the hood.
If the cable seems right at 'idle' but needs more pull at WOT, try to move any floor mats that may be under the pedal. If there is a pedal stop on your car, you can adjust that a bit as well. If it' still is not working out, you will have to replace the cable (about $70.00).
With these guides, you should be able to get the cable right. If it is very loose, you will never get WOT from the pedal, and the four needs every bit it can get! |
