I know this is way delayed, but all this talk about 318ti vs other e36 fuel pumps being different, etc, well I’m here to set things straight.

1) yes the ti fuel pump is different. Internally they are nearly identical but the body is green for the ti pump while the regular e36 pump is white or blue.

2) physically they are the same size.

3) the ti pump and regular e36 pump do not have a return inlets. The pumps supplied by Bimmerworld have return line spigots. They allow fuel to flow back through the pump body and back into the fuel tank. This is very important for the dual pump setup.

4) the Bimmerworld dual pump kit is plug and play, almost. The physical connectors are different on the ti vs other e36. Each pump has a power and sender connection.
The connectors are generic bmw parts that are easily obtained. You will need to buy two wire plug housings part# 61-13-1-378-401. You will remove and reuse the black plug from the sender on the 318ti pump and use it for the power connector on the regular e36 pump. The kit supplied pig tail connector is used to splice into the power wires for the main pump. Removing the connector housing from the two female pins it holds is easy and self explanatory when you go to do it. Then you use the two new white connectors as the sender connection. Install the pumps per Bimmerworld instruction or better yet, the YT video that shows it. Not hard at all.
