Well 2 new front wheel bearings turned up earlier than expected, so I decided to change them yesterday. I checked the old bearings over but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. After cleaning up and giving the car a wash I then went for a test drive. First thing I noticed was how much smoother, tighter and quieter the front end was, there was no steering shake at 65 onwards.
I still find on some roads the steering wanders off, there is some free play in the steering but next I think I'll do tracking/wheel alignment and then rear trailing arm bushes.
