I have an aftermarket cat (see gallery) & easily passed everything except... the Bastard smog tech actually crawled under the car, read the numbers on the cat and failed the car since the cat is apparently for a Chrysler. This is a new rule in California apparently - approved cats only.
Lesson #1 - Do Not take your car to a smog dealer that doesn't have a Free Retest policy.
A few days later I took it to another dealer & it passed. But this bull**** is getting worse and worse every year. The cat was legal when it was put on, now it's not. I wonder how many people are paying $1200 due to this stupid rule change. |
