with the stroked m42 i run a 4.4 with a 328i / m3 gearbox and don't use first gear any more. the ratios are pretty good and it will reach 110mph. on my 328i powered ti, i have a 316i gearbox with a 3.7 final drive and no longer use first gear in that car either. when it rains both cars will spin the wheels in fourth and can be quite a handful but great fun. i have bought a honda s2000 gearbox which i would like to try as it has 6 gears (making 5 usable ones without using 1st) there is a gear calculator somewhere on the net which you put in the tyre size, gearbox ratios etc and it works out speed in each gear which is very helpful for deciding which combination to go for |
