Yes, that is the stock limit. The red zone begins somewhat earlier to show you the maximum rated, long term engine rpm. Brief excursions to the rev limit shouldn't hurt a well maintained engine if it is fully warmed up and well oiled. Remember that the oil reaches its full temperature some minutes after the water temperature pointer reaches mid scale.

Longer term, staying a prudent distance below the red zone will prolong the engine's life. I run the car at 5100-5200 rpm in V over unrestricted sections of the Autobahn, which is about 20% below the engine's rating.
