hmm. sounds like you need to call and ask a dealer?
i doubt its the ignition switch. that is just a basic electrical mechanism. i haven't taken that whole deal apart yet on my 318ti, i've done it on a chevy before.. (chevy.. blasphemous, i know..) but if it's anything like that then i don't understand what could possibly go wrong and cause that issue. if the key wouldn't turn and you could pull it out while it was in a position other than the off position i think the issue would be the actual lock part. i would think a key would come with it but i dont know. i imagine the car is already out of commission. see if you can get it apart and take a peek at what might be keeping the key from turning. __________________
