That's been around quite a while and it is reported to work well. Basically you are torqueing a pair of long (roughly) 1/2 inch bolts at the front mount, so tying the bottoms together makes sense.

An improvement would be to then tie the strut to the body somewhere forward of the suspension, but I don't know where.

As it is, I think any decent shop could fab one up. It's not particularly difficult, but do remember to change to longer bolts so you don't reduce the thread engagement.
