Posts: 41 | Am i in trouble or am i in trouble I have an ob2 97 318 Ti that I want to swap an m52 into and my brother just bought me a 96 328is (parts car) for my birthday the 328 has the whole driveline there the interior is just gutted but the car was originally automatic and at some point was swapped to manual, I don't have a good history on the car but I pulled the dme and it is a red label 413 does this mead its an obd1 car (my guess is that one of the previous owners swapped it to obd1 when they did the manual swap) and i don't even know if its an obd1 or 2 motor (how can I tell) and if it was converted to obd1 how do I put it back to obd2 because I want to keep it obd2 for ny inspection | | | 02-21-2013, 08:11 AM | #2 | Member Join Date: Aug 2012 Location: Arizona Posts: 60 | You got to buy all of the sensors and harness from 96-99 2.8L. Then get your OBD2 ecu flashed by me so that it can pass smog test in NY | | | 02-21-2013, 05:09 PM | #3 | Member Join Date: Mar 2012 Location: U.S.A. Posts: 41 | How much is the flask and does it include performance remap And I need a whole new dme motor harness and sensors but they can be from any obd2 6cyl right And the car has a red label 413 dme does that mean the car is deffinatly obd1 and how can I tell if the motor is an m50 or an m52 converted to obd1 | | | 02-21-2013, 09:07 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: Aug 2012 Location: Arizona Posts: 60 | There is engine code engraved right next to left side engine mount bracket, it will say 28 S 6 2 if its 96-98 2.8L 413 will indicate the engine has the full OBD1 engine management with its sensors. So you will have to get all the stuff from 96 obd2 328i. These are simple questions answered many times in other forums, just use search. As for dme flash you can ask me private message. | | | 02-21-2013, 09:35 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: Ottawa Posts: 579 | Hakentt-MS41.1 AKA revlimit is a scam artist and cannot be trusted! he is banned from every BMW community forum I think of.
