You will LOVE the power upgrade! I just completed an M50TU swap on my `88 E30 325, and it's like a whole different car! As far as upgrades go, cams are where you can get a decent improvement, but honestly, these motors don't respond terribly well to standard 'hot rod' tricks. Probably the single best bang-for-the-buck option is to go FI...or to go from the M50 to an S50! Are you planning on doing maintenance to the M50 before dropping it in? With the '101 Performance Projects for your 3-series BMW' book (and by borrowing a couple of specialty tools), changing the head gasket is really pretty darn easy when the engine is out of the car. You will also probably get some performance BACK by refreshing the valve guides & seals in the head. PS - this was my 1st post on this site. I hope it was helpful! I signed up because I just put money down on a 318ti for my wife! She's going to help wrench on it. G-d, I love my wife!! | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
