Buzzing sound from engine when key is in position 2...

There is a loud buzzing sound coming from the engine whenever the key is in position 2. On an E30, this would likely be the ICV humming (but not as loud), but in an E36 I'm not so sure. Is something broken? The car runs fine...

my track car does that too, it's definitely coming from the ICV because it goes away when I unplug it, mine also runs fine other than a slightly rough idle so I've never been concerned enough to look into it further

That sounds about right. My car idles perfectly though, it's just a bit annoying...lol
