Lightbulb .REMOTE LOCKING NOT WORKING

Hi all

I have a 1998 31ti sports and the remote locking doesnt seem to work on the driverside. It works fine when i lock it with key, and can also lock in from inside by pushing the pin down on driverside door.

On the remote locking everything locks except driverside door.

If i lock from passengerside im not sure if only the passenger locks or everything locks except driverside door. will check.

I have just had an clifford alarm installed hoping it might fix the problem but it hasnt.

thanks guys

the best thing to do is to take the door panel off, and test for power at the door lock. chances are, the system is not getting power (broken wire) or the locking system is dead, and u need a new locking system for the driver side door.

i never experianced that, but that is just what i would guess being an electrician. the first thing to do whenever u have a problem is find out where u are losing power, if u are losing power, then why. if u are not losing power, then why isnt the system working?

once u test the power at the door, get back to us..

i think its the central locking motor

this happens often on e34 s

I havnt seen it that much on E36s but it has exactly the same symptoms

I had the same problem too with my 95 318ti. I bought it off a friend of mine n he fixed it by replacing the actuator inside the driver side door. Now the remote works, but no lights blink out when i press the buttons even though the car gets unlocked/locked.
