Default Cooling fan wiring help

Just got a 95 bmw 318ti with m42 engine, previous owner removed the AC compressor and im guessing it caused the Fan to stop kicking on.

The cooling fan is now hot wired to come on with the ignition switch.

Im wondering if someone could help guide me on how to rewire the fan the correct way and still have it kick on even tho the AC unit has been removed.

( assuming the cooling fan works with a relay on the ac)

thanks!

bump.. anyone atleast have a wiring diagram?

On my other car ( toyota ) I removed the AC assembly for weight reduction and after that the fan would no longer kick on,
I cant remember exactly what i did but it involved splicing two wires together and it allowed the circuit to be complete.
It was a few years ago and i had the help of a forum so i cant remember off the top of my head.

The car takes for ever to warm up with the fan constantly on

Here is a link to wiring diagrams for the 95 model...

http://wedophones.com/Manuals/BMW/19...g%20Manual.pdf

Many members have installed a manual switch for the cooling fan, as it is rarely necessary and usually only when you use AC, which is eliminated on your car... Maybe just wire a switch into the circuit which you can trigger during heavy loads or very hot days...

Do these cars come with a engine driven fan also? If so then it appears the previous owner has deleted that also.

Im guessing not running the elec fan would be a bad idea since the engine driven fan is removed also.

Id like to find a way to rewire it so it kicks on after a certain temp.

No US spec ti came with a engine driven fan... The cooling system is very efficent if properly maintained, and the fans rarely come on... the PO of your car may have thought the coolant temp sensor was faulty, and so he wired the fan to run constantly... there may not have been anything wrong with the fan or sensor in the first place...
