Default aftermarket head unit

I recently installed an aftermarket stereo and it gets power but no sound will come out of the speakers. Any idea on what the problem is or if this is common? thanks

did you remember to connect the speakers? maybe there is a 'mute' function activated somewhere?

I'm sure people on here an help more but it's a very nonspecific question, try giving some more info i.e. what make head unit and what process did you go through to install it, for example...

I think you need to bypass the factory amp.

+1! And if not, make sure to power up the power antena/remote (if you bought a wiring kit for the car) as this will power up the stock amp as well.

First thing I would do now is circuit test your power wire to see if it's hot. If if it is your head unit may be toast. Also, make sure that the head unit is grounded.
