If its a pain in the ass and very expensive to put an e46 engine in the e36 chassis, im quite sure its the same for the 335i engine. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 02-13-2008, 02:00 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Auburn, WA Posts: 1,814 | i was thinking the same thing couple weeeks ago __________________ 5/96 318TI Sport BIG TURBO | | | 02-13-2008, 04:56 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | Quote: Originally Posted by teetime4one yep, the vette engine. | here's are two tis with an LS1 first one second one (this one crashed into a tree) | | | 02-13-2008, 07:27 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Westfield, IN Posts: 1,335 | yeah that would be cool to put a 3.5 into a ti and yeah i do agree it would be $$. if only some of us had the money that would be so bad ass __________________ Greg M42 Club member 186 WTB: HELLROT RED CLUB SPORT 95 ti sold but staying in the family. | | | 02-14-2008, 12:36 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: Seattle, WA Posts: 402 | I can't even imagine how difficult it would be to retrofit all of the sensors that the modern BMWs have into the 'ti. We know the e46 motor is doable, but a LOT harder than the e36 motors. I would think that you would have a lot cheaper/easier time sourcing a Euro S50 or S52. My 135i has been sitting in NJ since Sunday. I can't wait to get it, but they are probably going to hold it for the next month until the North American 1 series launch on 3/22. I can't wait to compare it to the 332ti, cuz that car is fasssst. __________________ 1997 332ti - Don't even ask. 2006 330i - ZPP/ZSP/ZCW/6sp/Nav/BT/H&R Sport 2011 E92 M3 | | | 02-14-2008, 01:15 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | ohhh buddy!! i bet you got ants in your damn pants for that 135!! __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 02-14-2008, 02:53 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Regensburg, Germany Posts: 584 | Quote: Originally Posted by kickass95318ti yeah that would be cool to put a 3.5 into a ti and yeah i do agree it would be $$. if only some of us had the money that would be so bad ass | Its a 3.0... | | | 02-14-2008, 07:28 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Westfield, IN Posts: 1,335 | Quote: Originally Posted by BobbyDigital Its a 3.0... | it is? wow i thought it was a 3.5 damn yeah retrofittin all the sensors would be a huge bitch! __________________ Greg M42 Club member 186 WTB: HELLROT RED CLUB SPORT 95 ti sold but staying in the family. | | | 02-14-2008, 10:01 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Fl...tampa area Posts: 320 | nah, 3.0 twin turbo. the name fools everyone the first time | | | 02-14-2008, 11:24 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Westfield, IN Posts: 1,335 | lol lol my bad __________________ Greg M42 Club member 186 WTB: HELLROT RED CLUB SPORT 95 ti sold but staying in the family. | | | 02-16-2008, 08:32 AM | #15 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Los Angeles, Glendale, Eagle Rock Posts: 16 | It's possible but a lot of time and money. The entire engine and vehicle harness from the 335i will have to be installed or graphed onto the E36/5 chassis. Special brackets will have to be made as well for the transmission if necessary. Custom driveshaft and possible custom shifter assembly. Probably still better off doing the LS1 conversion or the S52 with a turbocharger setup. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
