Most likely due to the holes that formed from the rust over a 9 month period. I learned the hard way on my ti. The welding rusted out between the piping and the mufflers and the car ended up sounding like those oriental rage exhausts that some people put on civics. The black paint even started to flake off of it soon after. Well thats my Ansa horror story. I've had a Remus exhaust system now for about 5 months. And I am well satisfied and dont regret paying the price for a higher quality exhaust. T. Scott G. Posts: 3,156 | I heard the Remus on a compact6, and did not care for it. The sound is a bit 'off' to my ears, and too loud in general (for me). The stock M3 exhaust is too mellow for my taste as well (that's what's on my compact6 now). I think the Supersprint is a nice choice, but that's just me... | | | 01-26-2004, 01:18 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Tucson, AZ Posts: 290 | ok guys ive got a little update on my ansa and im sorry i ever got the darn thing. it was ok until today when it pretty much broke in half and left my car with the "ricer" sound. it broke right after the resonator and before the muffler. sooooo dont get this exhaust i learned the hard way. sorry tscottg i should have listened haha __________________ Vince Carknard 1995 318ti Active Hellrot, 16" 5 spoke, "Fogged" airbox mod, Stromung exhaust, Bilstein Sports, BMW sport springs, 3.73lsd, others... | | | 01-26-2004, 02:33 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: LA & Colo Spgs Posts: 210 | Quote: Originally Posted by J!m I heard the Remus on a compact6, and did not care for it. The muffler itself would have been tuned for the standard E36 body which is about 9-inches longer. I have a Remus on my 4-cyl and it sounds just right... | | | 01-27-2004, 12:57 AM | #7 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Posts: 3,156 | It's all personal as far a sound goes. Someone developed each exhaust system be cause they felt it sounded good to them. Get to listen to a bunch of exhausts, then decide. Just PLEASE stay away from these 'sheep raper' ass-cans the rice pilaf's apply to their Hondas. They sound like, well like a sheep being raped! And that my friends, is not cool. | | | 09-22-2004, 08:23 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | I'm deciding on a muffler too There is a new Ansa on Ebay, but I now think I will stay away from that brand. I bought a stainless header the other day on Ebay for $24.00. I hope I'm not an idiot, and already had one on my car. Just picked up my 1998 318ti last week, still deciding what to do on it. Here is the link to my header, can anyone assure me that this will go on my car? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT Hey J!M, I'm on Long Island...Melville, where on Long Island are you? __________________ 1998 (July) 318ti, 5-spd OEM Armrest Blaupunkt Heidelberg CD50 CD Player/Compact Drive MP3 Player Diamond Audio 5.25" rear speakers Navman ICN 530 GPS BMWALARM.COM (with comfort settings) after market alarm system Magnecor 8.5mm wires M-Z3 Shifter/Momo Knob Burlwood Dashboard Stromung Exhaust X-brace Racing Dynamics Front Strut Bar Carbonio C.A.I. 17" Rial Rims Vader Seats/Heated/Lumbar Support M-tech Steering Wheel/Front Sway Bar/Front & Rear Bumper Depos/w 6500K Angel Eyes/6000K HIDs Clear Corners M3 Mirrors UUC Light Weight Flywheel/M5 Clutch/M3 Clutch Slave E28 3.46 LSD/Mcoupe Cover/E30 Flanges & Halfshafts UUC S.S. If your still looking for a new muffler go for a Supersprint. I have Supersrpint on my ti and it sounds great and its Italian like that ansa, but from what I heard about yours, this is totally better. It may be pricey, but its worth it and if you wanna go all the way you can get a Supersprint header and resonator. | | | 09-22-2004, 11:00 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Tyler, TX Posts: 1,022 | You did read the item description right? | | | 09-23-2004, 03:26 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Tucson, AZ Posts: 290 | Viper, i have a stromung catback i bought from understeer.com now and i LOVE it. it sounds great and is all stainless. it was also only $475 which seemed pretty decent compared to some others. L84THSKY, stay away from the ansa if you dont want a piece of crap sitting under your car. and that auction appears to be a stock header setup. but for 14 bucks...why not have a spare haha. __________________ Vince Carknard 1995 318ti Active Hellrot, 16" 5 spoke, "Fogged" airbox mod, Stromung exhaust, Bilstein Sports, BMW sport springs, 3.73lsd, others... | | | 09-23-2004, 03:54 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Ohio Posts: 183 | L84 Like Bimmer said why not have a spare lieng around, but I wouldn't bother putting it on since you already have that on your car....You would just be wasting your time, unless your headers are F'ed up. __________________ DannyBoy 1997 318tiA Sport, 99,500 miles, All original except for APC Super White Bulbs. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
